Meet the Transition Team

Contacting Us During Transition

We understand that transition to a new school can quite often be more stressful for parents than it is for their children. To support with this, we have made getting in touch really easy.

To ensure we can respond to any questions or concerns you may have at the earliest opportunity we have a dedicated email address:
transition@penistone-gs.uk

We will provide you and your child with opportunities to meet lots of different staff over the course of the next few months. Mrs Corson leads on Transition across school and will be your initial point of contact. The following staff will also be key for you throughout the transition journey.

September 2020 Onwards

In September 2020 when students take up their place as the class of 2025 your key contacts will become Mr Archer (Achievement Leader) and Mrs Putsoane (Student Support Officer).

Mr Archer can be contacted at: progress@penistone-gs.uk

Mrs Putsoane can be contacted at: inclusion@penistone-gs.uk

Mrs Smith will continue to lead support for our SEND students and those with an EHCP in place.

From September Mrs Smith can be contacted by email: SEN@penistone-gs.uk.

Mrs Corson will continue to lead support for our SEND and vulnerable students who access Heart Space.

From September, Mrs Corson can be contacted by email at: heartspace@penistone-gs.uk

Mr R Archer

Y7 Achievement Leader

I am Mr Archer, the Achievement Leader for Year 7.

It is my job to help make your start at Penistone Grammar School as smooth as possible. It is also my job to help you make excellent progress and achieve your best in your five years at this school.

As well as being an Achievement Leader, I am also a History teacher so I might be teaching some of you next year.

I have several hobbies. I like wildlife, gardening and walking my dog, Dexter. I also love listening to heavy metal music and support Newcastle United – no jokes please!

My favourite meal is lamb curry, with plenty of chilli and naan bread.

My favourite colour is yellow.
