Bright Sparks is our highly successful integrated curriculum which is delivered to all students in Year 7. It incorporates elements of English, History and Geography through themed modules and project based study.
Students are taught in mixed ability groups and spend five hours per week in their Bright Sparks class, ensuring consistency with one teacher and facilitating the transition from primary school to the timetable demands of secondary school. In their lessons, students get the opportunity to explore world cultures, study momentous historical events, learn about modern literature, read contemporary novels and poems, and develop their social skills. Bright Sparks also includes ‘The Big Write’, which is an engaging and interactive approach to creative writing. Students develop their ‘word power’ through a series of high energy activities, then turn their literacy and creative skills into an extended piece of writing.
All elements of the bright Sparks curriculum ensure that students are ready for the demands of KS3 and beyond, as well as fostering a love of English, History and Geography.
